• Richard Apte started music playing electric bass in a Rock band at the beginning of the 90's.
• Richard came later on to Jazz and upright bass, he plays today in various styles and settings : middle jazz, swing, hard bop or gypsy (Manouche).
• Richard is also fond of Afro Cuban music: he went many times to Cuba and played a lot with African musicians in Paris.
• His encounter with pianist Philippe Amizet in 1999 has been decisive and since then he played mostly with Philippe in various settings, from duo to quintet.
• Five Cats at the Window is his first recording, where he develops a robust and often inspiring playing which expresses his complicity with Philippe Amizet.
• He co-signs with Philippe a very nice tune : "Jumbo"
